DuJour

Building off our previous layering tips found here, today at DuJour, we thought we’d give you three sweater/button-down combinations you could try this season.
Our first look makes use of the ever-popular Fair Isle pattern in a trim-fitting crew neck style. We’re particularly fond of the burgundy tone of this piece as it is assured to brighten up any layered outfit lacking color, without being too intense. To compliment, try a muted green oxford shirt underneath:
Cherry Cross Fair Isle Crewneck Sweater
RVCA ‘That’ll Do’ Oxford Shirt
If that’s too “Christmasy”, well you could always just go with an off-white oxford, but where’s the fun in that?
Our next look highlights the shawl-collar trend adding an extra layer of warmth for you this season without looking too chunky. Additionally, the shawl detail gives this look a vintage appearance straight from your grandfather’s generation. But with the tailored, modern update, the shawl collar is no longer just for gramps. We like this flecked jumper found at Bonobos and are pairing it with one of their vibrant casual button-downs underneath:
The Ishmael
Bay of Biscay
Want to combine both styles? Our final look blends the Fair Isle pattern with the shawl collar detail. Instead of a pullover, this get-up focuses on the cardigan, making other layers more accessible. Because the spotlight is on the Fair Isle pattern once again, we’d recommend a simple fitted v-neck underneath to avoid being too shocking:
Fair Isle Shawl Collar Cardigan
ASOS Long Sleeve Top with Deep V
Remember, the key to layering is to stay comfortable and warm while keeping in mind constantly changing temperatures throughout the day. So be prepared to add extra layers or take one off if you get too warm; keep it accessible!
Good luck and happy shopping!
